Our verdict

Birch suits sleepers who want a long trial, a long warranty and a natural materials build, and it sells in US and CA with free delivery. The trade-off sits at checkout: a queen is listed at $1,399, and a return costs $99.

Pros and cons

Pros

  • A trial of 120 days nights, longer than the 100 nights at Coop Sleep Goods and the 100 nights at Newton Baby.
  • A lifetime warranty, the figure that places Birch at the top of the warranty ranking.
  • Free delivery and old mattress removal, so nothing is added for getting the mattress to the bedroom and the old one out.
  • A range of hybrid, latex and organic mattresses with firmness options soft, medium and medium firm, so couples with different preferences have room to split the difference.
  • Support across email, chat and phone, with phone and a help centre both listed.

Cons

  • A queen at $1,399 ranks 30 of 50 on price, so entry costs more than the brands ranked ahead of it.
  • Returns carry a fee of $99 on top of the 30 day window, so a change of mind is not cost free.
  • Assembly is not included, and delivery runs 1 to 2 weeks.
  • A firm option is not among its firmness options (soft, medium and medium firm), which run only as far as medium firm.

Who it suits

  • Readers who expect to keep the same mattress for years, since the warranty is lifetime.
  • Anyone shopping in the US and Canada, where the brand sells in US and CA and delivery is free.
  • Couples who cannot agree on one feel, because firmness runs soft, medium and medium firm.

Who should look elsewhere

  • Anyone outside the US and Canada, since delivery is listed for US and CA only.
  • Eve Sleep, whose hybrid and memory foam range is a tighter set than the hybrid, latex and organic here, if a single build is enough.
  • Coop Sleep Goods, whose 100 night trial is shorter than the 120 nights here, if the longer window is not the reason to buy.

Prices

The Natural Organic Mattress is listed at $1,399 for a queen. That is the price at entry and the figure to weigh, and there is no subscription tier, renewal schedule or member rate on the list, so nothing recurs after the purchase. The extra line to budget for sits on the way out rather than on repeat, because a return carries a fee of $99.

Core features

The trial runs 120 nights in the home, which is the number most readers check before anything else. Behind it sits a lifetime warranty, aimed at a mattress that stays in the same bedroom for a long time. The Natural Organic Mattress stands 25.4 cm tall, worth measuring against a low frame or a tight headboard. Delivery is free and old mattress removal is available, so moving day adds nothing to the ticket.

How it compares on our data

On queen price, Birch sits at 30 of 50, so the entry cost is among the higher prices in the mattress field. On trial nights it ranks 9 of 83, close to the top of that ranking. On warranty years it is 1 of 73, the strongest of the three results. The pattern is a brand that asks more at entry and gives back more time and more cover.

The company behind it

The brand trades as Brooklyn Bedding, LLC d/b/a Birch Living, sits in the US and was founded in 2019. Support is the part that stands out for a company of this size: email, chat and phone are all listed, so a question can be put by phone, answered in chat, or resolved from the help centre, with email as the written channel.

Frequently asked questions

How much is a Birch queen mattress?+

The Natural Organic Mattress is listed at $1,399 for a queen. That is the price readers compare at entry, and it sits among the higher prices in the mattress rankings. Delivery is free on it, so the figure is the main cost of the purchase rather than a starting point before extras.

Does returning a Birch mattress cost anything?+

Returns carry a fee of $99, and the return window runs 30 days. The fee is charged when the mattress goes back, so a change of mind inside the window is not free. The longer 120 night trial is the part readers usually use first.

How long is the Birch trial?+

The trial runs 120 nights in the home, not a short showroom slot. That is longer than the 100 nights at Coop Sleep Goods or the 100 nights at Newton Baby, and it places Birch near the top of the trial rankings.

How long is the warranty on a Birch mattress?+

The warranty is lifetime, which is the figure that puts Birch at the top of the warranty ranking. No other brand in that group of 73 carries a longer cover. For a mattress meant to stay in a bedroom, that length is often the reason readers look past the entry price.

Is delivery free and will Birch take away the old mattress?+

Delivery is free, and the threshold that normally triggers a charge sits at $0, so nothing is added at checkout. Old mattress removal is available too, which removes a cost on moving day. Delivery on the kids mattress runs 1 to 2 weeks.

What certifications do Birch materials carry?+

The materials carry gols and greenguard, which covers GOLS and GREENGUARD. Both are less common across the mattress brands tracked here than CertiPUR-US or OEKO-TEX. If a specific certification is a condition for the room, check it line by line on the organic and latex builds.

How firm are Birch mattresses and what are they made of?+

Firmness runs to soft, medium and medium firm, so the range stops at medium firm rather than reaching a firm option. The range covers hybrid, latex and organic mattresses, built with cotton, wool and memory foam. The Natural Organic Mattress stands 25.4 cm tall, which is worth measuring against a low frame or a tight headboard before ordering.

Does Birch sell anything besides mattresses?+

The bedding side covers sheets, duvets and pillows, with the organic pillow at $149 and the sheet set reaching a 320 thread count. Materials used across the range are cotton, wool and memory foam. That makes Birch a place to build a whole bed rather than a mattress only brand.

Who runs Birch and where does it sell?+

The trading entity is Brooklyn Bedding, LLC d/b/a Birch Living, headquartered in the US and founded in 2019. Orders are covered in US and CA, so a reader outside those markets would be shopping outside the listed terms. Support runs on email, chat and phone, which puts a person on the other end of most questions.
