How to Choose Mattress Brands

Mattress brands are easier to compare when you line up queen price, trial length, warranty terms, delivery cost and build materials in that order.

Start with the price spread, not the cheapest sticker

Queen prices across the mattress brands we track run €109.62 to €3,287.73. That single span tells you more about the decision than any brand headline, because it sets the band your shortlist has to sit inside and how much of the field you can afford to actually test.

Worked examples show why entry figures need care. Eve Sleep lists bedding from £48 and its Premium Hybrid mattress at £689, so the entry figure covers pillows and duvets rather than the mattress itself. Coop Sleep Goods lists bed pillows from $39, which is a bedding aisle price rather than a mattress price. Compare like with like, and treat any entry price as a signpost to the range it belongs to.

Start your shortlist on the mattress brands rankings, then come back to the fields below in the same order for each brand.

Trial length decides how much risk you carry

Entry price is the cost of being in; the trial is what you pay to find out whether you should stay. Trials across the brands we track run 0 to 365 nights, a spread wide enough that the difference between two otherwise similar brands can be the whole experience.

Eve Sleep offers 200 nights in the home, with a returns window of 200 days. Coop Sleep Goods pairs a trial of 100 nights with the same length of window. Those figures should always be read together, because a generous trial says little if the returns terms behind it are tighter.

Newton Baby's trial terms for the crib products are worth confirming with the brand before you order, and the Newton Baby review is the place to check what has been established. Long trials suit undecided sleepers; short ones suit buyers who already know the firmness they want.

Warranty years, and the weight limit hiding inside them

Warranty length across the brands we track runs 0.25 to 99 years, a spread wide enough that a shorter term is a real trade-off rather than a rounding error.

Eve Sleep carries 10 years of cover, and Coop Sleep Goods covers 1 to 5 years. Length on its own is not the whole term, though. Eve Sleep sets a maximum user weight of 130 kg, so a household of heavier sleepers should read that line before the longer term talks them into it. Cover that excludes your weight class is not cover at all. The Eve Sleep review and the Coop Sleep Goods review set out how each of these reads in practice.

Confirm the warranty term that applies to a Newton Baby crib before you rely on it, and check whether the mattress you are buying and the bedding you are adding sit under the same cover.

Delivery, returns cost and how easy it is to get help

Coop Sleep Goods does not offer free delivery as standard, though orders above $75 do qualify. Eve Sleep offers free delivery with a threshold of £0, and Newton Baby offers free delivery with a threshold of $0. On delivery alone the comparison is close.

Return costs are where the difference reappears: return fees run $0 for Coop Sleep Goods and from £0 for Eve Sleep. A long in-home trial is only as useful as the return terms behind it, so read the fee line before the nights line. Newton Baby quotes delivery of 1 to 2 weeks, and assembly is not included, which matters if you are building a bed in a single sitting.

Support reach varies too. Coop Sleep Goods lists email, phone and help centre, while Eve Sleep lists email, phone and help centre. A brand that answers on the channel you use tends to resolve a firmness dispute faster than one that does not.

What goes inside: materials, profile height and certifications

After price and terms, compare what is actually under you. Eve Sleep builds mattresses in hybrid and memory foam, using memory foam, offers a medium firm feel and stands 28 cm tall. A single firmness option is worth noting if you share a bed with someone who prefers a different feel.

Coop Sleep Goods is a broader bedding shop, listing sheets, duvets and duvet covers in cotton, linen and microfiber. That is useful if you want to rebuild a whole bed in a single basket, and less useful if you only need the mattress layer.

Certification lists are the filter to read if you react to finishes: Eve Sleep lists certipur us, oeko tex and fsc, and Newton Baby lists greenguard and gots for its crib products. Newton Baby's profile of 13.97 cm places it in a different product category, so its prices and terms should not be set directly against the two adult mattress brands. Ask Coop Sleep Goods for the certification detail behind any material you are considering.

Check the market before you compare the prices

Coop Sleep Goods sells in US and trades as Coop Home Goods, LLC. Eve Sleep sells in GB under Bensonsforbedsretail Ltd, and has traded since 2015. Market coverage sets the currency, the delivery terms and the returns address, so a price gap between two brands can be a market gap rather than a value gap.

Once you have fixed the market, work through the same fields in the same order for every brand: queen price, trial length, warranty term, return fee, then build.

Put the rankings and reviews to work

The mattress brands rankings list every brand in the same format, so you can carry a single method across the whole shortlist rather than restarting for each profile.

Bring that method to the reviews for Zinus, Buffy and Casper, and to Silentnight, in the same sequence you used for Coop Sleep Goods, Eve Sleep and Newton Baby. Same fields, same order, and the trade-offs become comparable rather than a matter of whose page you read last.
